We do not recommend putting hair spray, mouse or oil sheen on human hair blends. A human bend unit will generally maintain a nice shine, curl, wave and texture for 60 to 120 days, depending on wear and care and you do not sleep in the wig. However, when the shine fades, curl disappears or texture changes, its time to discard the unit and replace it.

But if you require daily or frequent wear, synthetic will not recommended. A synthetic wig can be gently washed according to instructions and air dry. No heat of any kind can be applied to synthetic hair. The hair unit above is synthetic. If you wear it daily, the wig life is 30-60 days maybe a little longer if you don't sleep or work out in it. It will last longer but it won't have a new clean fresh look like human hair.

Private health insurance may cover a wig hair prosthesis if it is medically necessary due to a health condition. Unfortunately, they aren't covered by Medicare because Medicare doesn't consider it medically necessary. If you have private health insurance such as Cigna, BCBS, Humana, etc. contact your health plan to see if a hair prosthesis is fully or partially covered. If you have Medicaid or other government insurance, check with your your local Medicaid office or provider.

Check with your health insurance provider to see what forms you will will need to complete or information you or your doctor will need to provide to process a claim for a wig hair prosthesis. The medical provider will need to advise the insurance company that the wig is medically necessary.
We will provide you a written estimate via email of the cost for a medical hair prosthesis so you can provide to your health insurance provider. We will work closely with you if needed to provide all the information and documentation you need to receive health insurance benefits to pay for the full or partial cost for your wig hair prosthesis.

If you have a child in need of a wig hair prosthesis please contact us. Just email us a photo of your child prior to hair loss and we will do our best to create the same exact style and perfect fit that looks natural and age appropriate. If the child is covered by insurance, we may ask that you file a claim with your insurance, but if insurance is not an option, Emma Sky Ash will provide the wig free if the child's hair loss is due to a medical condition, burn or other qualifying reason.
